Heavy Blonde | Heatwave
I know we’re generally behind the draw most of the time but not today. Scranton’s own Heavy Blonde dropped Heatwave, their debut album, this very day…. and I must say it’s pretty damn good. I was lucky enough to be given a copy of their Sun EP late last year. Which in itself is a great record but they’re really managed to expand on what they started with Sun. The instrumentation and arrangements on Heatwave are superb. It’s got catchy lyrics, great harmonies and a bouncy 50’s-esque groove that’s interspersed with melancholy guitar riffing. These songs make me wish I was on the beach throwing back a cold one…. and I hate the beach.
They’ll be throwing the release show for Heatwave at The Keys in Scranton this Friday so don’t miss it.
