Feeding Leroy @ The Red Herring Lounge 2/18/16
The downside of writing about music for fun is that you don’t get paid any money. The upside is that you can get as drunk as you want at a show and you probably won’t get fired. Plus, it’s Empty Bottle Evenings. It’s kind of the point. Our Drunk Guy Recaps are not just a stroke of genius marketing. You’re getting the real deal. Which is not much of a deal, I grant you that. And this particular recap is really too close to mailing it in entirely. But it will be short and there’s a good band at the heart of this so just keep reading for a little bit and humor me.
Thursday night in Duluth I had a few drinks, walked down the hill to the the Red Herring Lounge, had a few more drinks and passed out on the couch after a couples spat over my drunk snoring. This is not altogether remarkable, I realize. BUT before the drinks destroyed my ability to stay awake or be aware about my snoring issues, I was having a lovely time watching Feeding Leroy. I had not heard of them until recently but I was impressed with what I heard before the show and for the mere cost of $5 plus whatever the additional liver damage is worth at this point I was excited to check them out. They are a folky Americana outfit with some really solid songs and they sure didn’t disappoint live. They have an EP titled Love is A Gamble up on their website and every song is worth listening to.
While my recollection of Thursday is admittedly spotty, and my brain is barely words-ing today I would be disappointed if I didn’t give an EBE recommends to this band. Whenever Feeding Leroy is back in my area I will go check them out and I hope more people join me. I’ll even make sure that I take it easy on the bottle and maybe I’ll have some useful praise about them to share next time.
