Boston Concert Picks 6/12 – 6/16
Hello Again. I just flew in from Minnesota and boy are my arms… um, I’m tired. Anyway, I’ve been away from home, pursuing the American dream. Or getting drunk. Or finding a new place to live. Mostly the last two. And now that it is confirmed I’ll be leaving the Boston area in just a couple of short months. (What the hell is so short about them? Huh?) So before I go, let’s go see some shows in Massachusetts! Who’s coming with?!
Friday 6/12/15
Josh Rouse @ The Sinclair Cambridge- 8:00pm– First, we need to check out the tender sounds of Mr. Rouse. He smoothly blends in folkier country and roots sounds with pop/singer-songwriter stuff ala Josh Ritter or Charlie Mars. Also, Walter Martin of the Walkmen opens.
Saturday 6/13/15
Paul Weller @ The Paradise Rock Club- 7:00pm
Famous British rocker (as in really famous in UK but not so much the US) settles for playing a place like the Paradise. You may know him from his work with The Jam. Might be worth checking out that’s you thing. Or if you’re just tired of beating it.
Ex Hex @ The Sinclair Cambridge- 9:00pm
Three girls playing their fun punk-ish indie rock. You could do a lot worse on a Saturday night.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd & Johnny Lang @ Cape Cod Melody Tent- Hyannis, MA – 7:00PM
And if you’re feeling real fucking ambitious why don’t you follow the crowd of Massholes going down the Cape to see the whales (both the sea animals and the fat people on the beach). Then stay to see these two blues artists that became huge overnight as teenagers and then mysteriously disappeared from the mainstream….oooooo… What happened to them? Drugs? Murder? Swallowed by man-eating whales? Find out for yourself for the mere cost of 10 doubloons. ($41 to $61 dollars)
Amy Schumer@ The Wilbur Theatre
Yes, she’s not really a musician, but she’s funny. AND she might play a song about poop.
6/15 & 6/16
Bad Religion @ The Paradise Rock Club – Finally, don’t miss your chance to see Punk’s godfathers? Grandfathers? Fathers? Older brothers? I don’t know what they should be called but Bad Religion has been around for a long f’n time. They weren’t the first but they may be the last and they still put on a great show. At least they did last year when I saw them. Go see them again yourself before Punk is dead! And I mean it this time!
