World Boogie Is Coming | North Mississippi Allstars
I’ve been a fan of the North Mississippi Allstars since I realized that Luther Dickinson is one of the filthiest guitarists I’ve ever seen. Seriously, this dude is a legend in the making and his brother Cody is no joke either. The first time I saw them live he busted out a wiffle ball bat and played a drum solo with it. At one point there was also an electric washboard breakdown… and that’s all I need to say about that.
As the name would suggest these guys are from Mississippi and they play like it. They’re on of the dirtiest blues bands you’re going to find these days. To be honest, I’m still digesting this album but from what I’ve heard thus far the Allstars have really raised the bar. Not that their previous albums were bad, but they really are a band that you need to see live to fully appreciate. However, World Boogie seems to capture the essence of what these guys really are much better than any of their previous records. It’s straight up Mississippi blues. They also got a bunch of their friends to help them out; Alvin Youngboold Hart, Lightnin’ Malcolm, Sharde Thomas…. oh and Robert Fucking Plant.
The Drink:
Moonshine seems like the only appropriate drink to have with this album… but if you can’t track down any backwoods hooch a cheap bourbon is the next best thing.
