Philly Concert Picks: June 26th – 27th
Friday the 26th: Creepoid and Ecstatic Vision @ Johnny Brenda’s
Two heavy hitting psych bands from right here in Philly. It’s Creepoid’s record release show and Johnny Brenda’s is always a great room so this one is bound to be good.
Friday the 26th: Charlie Parr @ The World Cafe, Wilmington
Ya it’s not quite Philly but Chalie Parr is a force of nature. Hailing from Duluth, MN he plays Piedmont blues better than pretty much anyone else that’s still alive at this point.
Saturday the 27th: Keb Mo @ The Grand Opera House, Wilmington
This one’s in Wilmington also but shit there’s some god damn good blues going on in Delaware this weekend. Much like Charlie Parr, Keb Mo is a protector of a dying craft. He plays down and dirty delta blues, on a resonator like it’s been played since the 20’s.
Saturday the 27th: Torres and Northern Arms @ Boot and Saddle
Torres is a singer songwriter from over in Brooklyn. She’s got a smooth, spacey indie type thing going on. Northern Arms are from right here in Philly and I can attest that they put on one hell of a show. Don’t miss this one.
