Wednesday the 22nd: Hurray for The Riff Raff @ World Cafe
Hurray for The Riff Raff are a folk / Americana band from New Orleans and if you haven’t heard of them already you should probably just go to this show. World Cafe is one of the best sounding venues in town and I couldn’t think of a better place to see this band.
Friday the 24th: West Philadelphia Orchestra @ Johnny Brenda’s
The West Philadelphia Orchestra is a gypsy jazz brass band… I’ve seen then a number of times and each time I got very drunk and trance-formed into a magnificent lord of the dance. I am not a dancing man.
Saturday the 25th: The Rivals @ Franky Bradleys
Composed mostly of former members of Kickin’ Bear, The Rivals play good old fashion rock n roll. They’ve got a little bit of The Band in them and maybe even a little bit of the dead… either way these guys are good.
