Iron Horse | Pickin’ On Modest Mouse
I’ve decided to continue with this bluegrass kick we’ve been on for the past couple of weeks and talk a little bit about Iron Horse. These guys are from Alabama and they’re know primarily for their bluegrass tribute albums. Now, I’ll admit I’m no expert on bluegrass culture but I do know that the purists tend to turn up their noses at this type of thing. To those people I’m just going to go ahead and say ‘Fuck you’. Bluegrass is great, Modest Mouse is great, put em together and what’s not to love.
I’ll admit it’s hard to imagine that songs like ‘Dark Center of The Universe’ or ‘Interstate 8′ would translate well into old time pickin’ tunes. Somehow they do though and Iron Horse makes them sound like old standards. That aside, the real beauty of this album is you’ll probably still like it even if you’re not into bluegrass but you love Modest Mouse… and the opposite is just true as well.

The Drink:
Ya you guessed it… bourbon. But this time out of a jug.
