Graveyard Lovers | Dreamers
I may be a bit bias on this one because A. I love dirty, bluesy rock and B. I’ve shared the shared the stage a few times with these guys…. but fuck it I never claimed to a beacon of objectivity and Dreamers is a great album. These guys hail from Brooklyn by way of New Orleans and you can hear it in the way they play. They’re loud, dirty and unafraid to throw in a good dose of face melting blues riffs. The first time I saw them my initial thought was “Shit, these guys are what I wish The Black Keys were.” Not to knock The Black Keys, I dig them I really do but at this point I’ve listened to Dreamers a lot more than anything they’ve put out recently. I could go on and on here but I don’t Dan Auerbach coming after me and I think the best sales pitch I can give for these guys is this… Being a dude that plays shows pretty regularly I get handed albums all the time. I try to give them all at least one listen through but it’s a rare occasion if I ever touch them again. Maybe that makes me an asshole but life is short and I don’t have time for music that doesn’t get me moving… the point is I can and have listened to Dreamers straight through a number of times and it never disappoints.
Oh also they’re on tour right now so go check them out.
